Legal notice sent to Tanjin Tisha over alleged use of photos without consent

A legal notice has been sent to actress Tanjin Nahar Tisha over allegations of publishing photographs of a plaintiff without her consent and spreading false information about her on social media.

Sanaya Anam Wakifah Chowdhury, the plaintiff, sent the notice through her lawyer, Supreme Court advocate Shubhra Sinha Roy, on Wednesday.

Shubhra Sinha Roy said the notice stated that the plaintiff had filed two separate cases against Tisha at the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court and the Executive Magistrate Court in Dhaka. Both cases are pending.

According to the notice, Tisha published allegedly objectionable photographs of the plaintiff and shared false information about her through her verified Facebook page, Tanjin Tisha, on October 27, 2026.

The notice also alleged that the actress had been misrepresenting the matter to the country’s media outlets.

The notice further stated that Tisha had threatened the plaintiff through Facebook Messenger on November 7, 2025, saying, ‘Let me know when you become famous. I’ll upload your photos.’

The plaintiff alleged that Tisha subsequently published her photographs on Facebook, damaging her reputation.

According to the notice, Tisha also wrote in a Facebook post, ‘Why are these two the same? Why do these two sisters harbour such hatred?’

The plaintiff claimed that she and the other woman whose photograph was shared were not sisters. Rather, the plaintiff is a fashion designer, while the other woman is an entrepreneur, and they know each other professionally.

The notice alleged that Tisha had misrepresented their relationship on social media and other platforms, harming the plaintiff’s reputation.

The notice also alleged that Tisha had published photographs of two minors without obtaining consent from the plaintiff or the children’s family. It described the publication as a violation of the Cyber Security Act 2023.

The notice demanded that Tisha remove all photographs and posts featuring the plaintiff from her verified Facebook page within two days of receiving the notice and refrain from publishing any further photographs of her.

Failure to comply would compel the plaintiff to pursue legal remedies against Tisha, including claims for monetary damages for defamation and proceedings before the Cyber Tribunal or any other competent court, the notice said.
