Major changes planned for NTRCA teacher recruitment exam

The Non-Government Teachers’ Registration and Certification Authority (NTRCA) is planning major changes to its teacher recruitment examination, introducing a system of direct recruitment after the examination.

Under the proposed system, candidates will no longer undergo a separate registration process merely to have their eligibility assessed; instead, successful candidates will be recruited directly.

As a result, the upcoming examination will be known as the ninth teacher recruitment examination rather than the 19th teacher registration examination, following the previous sequence.

The ninth teacher recruitment examination may be held in December, as the authority plans to organise it after completing the oral examinations for the recruitment of heads and assistant heads of educational institutions.

According to NTRCA sources, oral examinations for the posts of heads and assistant heads are currently under way and are scheduled to conclude on 9 December.

The authority may take initiatives to arrange the ninth teacher recruitment examination after the oral examinations are completed. However, a final decision will be made only after obtaining approval from the Ministry of Education.

The last notification for the 18th teacher registration examination was published on 4 November 2023. Its preliminary examination was held in March 2024, around four months after the notification was issued.

After a prolonged gap, preparations are now under way to arrange a new teacher recruitment examination under the revised system.
