The Indian High Commission in Dhaka has made it mandatory for applicants seeking all categories of Indian visas to submit a visa undertaking form in a prescribed format, according to an urgent advisory published on its visa-related portal on Thursday.

Under the new requirement, applicants must download the ‘Visa Undertaking Form’ from the link provided by the High Commission, fill it in properly, scan it and upload it along with their online visa applications through the Indian Visa Application Centre (IVAC) portal.

The High Commission has said only forms in the prescribed format will be accepted. Applications submitted with forms in any other format will not be considered.

In the one-page undertaking, applicants must declare that they will visit India solely for the purpose stated in their visa applications. They must also confirm that they are residing within the jurisdiction of the Indian High Commission in Dhaka on the date of application and that all information provided is accurate.

The first section of the form requires applicants to provide personal details, including their name as stated in their passports, passport number, nationality, date of birth and current address in Dhaka.

The second section requires them to specify the purpose of their visit to India, such as tourism, business, medical treatment or attending a conference.

In the subsequent section, applicants must pledge to return to their home country after completing their visit and not overstay their visas.

They must also undertake to comply with Indian laws, regulations and culture while staying in the country and refrain from engaging in any unlawful activities.

The form warns that violations of these conditions may lead to visa cancellation and could affect applicants’ eligibility for Indian visas in the future.

Applicants must complete the form by providing their signatures, place and date.

For applications submitted by minors, the signatures of both parents are mandatory.
